 The Life & Times of Tupac Amaru
Shortly after exile, Manco Inca died and his son Tupac Amaru ascended to the throne.
After several run ins with the Spanish, the Inca decided to abandon Vilcabamba and flee still further into the Amazon.
The Spanish arrived at Vilcabamba to find a charred ruin, the Inca having burned it to the ground to destroy any evidence of their where abouts. 
Pizzaro did not give up and sent troops to flush them out of the jungle. By 1572, the spanish had kidnapped Tupacs pregnant wife and murdered Tupac when he came to retrieve her.
